Of all the cars to import from Japan, some guy in Virginia decided to ship over a Toyota Hilux Surf. I saw this in Chantilly today, rocking antique plates.
This guy gets a lot of Jalop cred.

You see these every once in a while in Canada, I’m glad people have an appreciation for indestructible Japanese turbodiesel 4x4s.

What amazeballs stuff do you get by going through all that JDM pain as opposed to buying a US-model 4Runner?

A turbodiesel. Plus they’re probably in way better condition if you get it from Japan. The cars over there are meticulously maintained because of inspection, and the old ones are cheap (because of inspection). So yeah, wouldn’t be a terrible idea.
